Next weekend, on the 19th and 20th November, the Guardian and Honda Dream Factory Hack Day collaboration takes place. It is the centerpiece of a partnership which has given exposure to the project and the Cultural Engineers.
The Hack Day is chance for some of the country’s best developers to work with the Dream Factory Cultural Engineers creating prototypes or apps that capture the essence of the brief, based around the development theme Honda followed in the creation of their new Civic:
If we never venture into the unknown, how do we get anywhere new?
Further guidance for the development of the prototypes or apps will come from the new Civic’s 4 key product themes:
Cultural Engineers and developers will collaborate to generate ideas, with the developers taking these ideas forward over the course of the weekend using their coding expertise. Ideas need to be shaped by the brief but very much follow Honda’s ethos, ‘The Power of Dreams’.
The most outstanding idea will be chosen by a select panel of judges and receive a £2000 development grant. A further 4 ideas, each relating to a different theme (Quality / Technology / Design / Evolution) will be put out for vote, with Guardian readers deciding their favourite. This idea will also be rewarded with a £2000 development grant.
