“If you open up ideas you get challenged. You have to make the idea better, or give up.”
Tapping into the fact that you can buy a Coca-Cola almost anywhere in the world, including developing countries, Simon Berry saw the perfect opportunity to piggy-back the informal distribution networks that get Coke into remote rural areas to provide vital lifesaving medicines.
After years of persistence Simon and his wife Jane have got UNICEF, SABMiller (Coca-Cola’s bottler in Zambia) and the Zambian Ministry of Health together with local agencies, to trial this simple idea of ‘AidPods’, containing oral re-hydration salts, zinc, soap and advice that will be packed into the unused space between the necks of Coca-Cola bottles – helping mothers to save their children’s lives. ColaLife is simply genius and epitomises the ethos of the Power of Dreams.
